THE CIRCULATION OF 50,000 HAS BEEN REACHED
Göppingen / Thelonious Hartmann December 12, 2018
Göppingen-based karate author Fiore Tartaglia recently sold his 50,000th textbook. The 60-year-old writes and publishes his own books. The total number of books sold now includes eight in three languages, some of which are considered standard works in the industry.
His careers as a graphic designer and photographer have laid the foundation for his success as a karate book author: thanks to his decades of experience as a karate teacher, he not only knows how to perfectly execute the movements, but also captures them visually and in detail in self-explanatory sequences of images.
In his latest book, "The Children's Karate Way," the Göppingen native explains the basic techniques of Kihon, Kata, and Kumite in child-friendly language. He conveys values such as respect, discipline, tradition, and how to deal with criticism.
Since reaching the 25,000-book sales milestone, the 6th Dan holder has expanded his portfolio digitally: With the ShotokanKata app, every smartphone owner has free access to three selected exercises. These exercises are easy to follow for those interested in karate and beginners thanks to clear graphics and pauseable slow-motion recordings of the sequences. The app is available in five languages for iOS and Android and has already inspired 28,000 people worldwide.
The family man, born in Eboli, southern Italy, has also been running a YouTube channel since 2015. In 33 short videos to date, he explains techniques for both beginners and advanced practitioners step by step—and new ones are constantly being added. Thanks to his son Enno, all his books are also available as eBooks.
The master teacher sees his future in providing quality of life through seminars and courses. With future books, the author hopes to reach a target audience beyond martial arts. He already has a book idea.
Hardworking book writer: Karateka Fiore Tartaglia.
