About fiore

Karate – My way of life, my passion

Here I report on my karate journey, which began in 1974 and continues to shape my life today – from my first steps to teaching, my books, and the passing on of my experiences and values.

I have been practicing karate since 1974...

and began practicing this martial art at the young age of 16. Today, I hold the rank of 7th Dan. I train with heart and soul every day and consider karate an integral part of my lifestyle, as well as my great passion and attitude. My interest in Zen has existed almost as long as my love for karate.

Born in 1958 in Eboli, southern Italy...

and have lived in Germany since 1980. Over the years, I participated in various competitions in the disciplines of kata and kumite. In 1979, I passed my 1st Dan examination in Sicily, Italy. In the same year, I founded our first judo and karate dojo with two friends. I also gained experience in the martial arts jujutsu, judo, taijiquan, aikido, and iaido. Later, I incorporated various elements of these into my own karate dojo. In 2000, I published my first work as a karate book author. In 2001, Klaus Späth and I founded the Taikikan karate dojo in Germany. Our karate school practices Shotokan karate and is a member of the German Karate Association (DKV) and the World Karate Federation (WKF). In 2014, I was named a Millennium Trainer at the Karate World Championships in Bremen. As a guest instructor, I was also privileged to lead courses on the topic of "Transmitting Values through Karate."

I was able to fulfill my dream

Over time, I have published nine karate textbooks in five different languages and now also offer various other karate products. Driven by this desire to pass on my knowledge, experiences, and values to karateka of all levels, to support them in developing their full potential as karateka and thereby improving their quality of life. The Shōtōkan Kata series, also often referred to as "the black books," are considered the standard works for all Shōtōkan karateka in the field of kata in German-speaking countries – which fills me with great pride. Several decades of experience as a karateka, as well as my work as the owner of an agency with a publishing house, photographer, and graphic designer, formed the basis for the realization of my works. My books are characterized by my attention to detail and my passion for the discipline, which are reflected in the content and the detailed illustrations I draw.

I give karate courses...

throughout Germany and, from 2023, also in other European countries. I also offer online karate sessions and individual online coaching for karateka who want to optimize or deepen their karate skills, or specifically explore the philosophy behind it. The exchange with like-minded people is always fulfilling for me and also offers me the opportunity to change my perspective and expand my knowledge.
