DANSHAKAI of the SHOTOKAN style
DANSHAKAI is a gathering of DAN holders (and advanced KYU grades) for the purpose of joint training. Thomas Frisch traveled to Meerane, unfortunately the only representative from our dojo, to participate in this event. And it was worth it. Under the direction of Fiore Tartaglia (6th DAN), an excellent kata expert and author of specialized books, insights and exercises were offered for a deeper understanding of Shotokan kata. Let's hear from Thomas.
"The LG was very informative, yet still fun and provided beads of sweat. It was essentially about technical precision and details, but bunkai was also not neglected. Fiore is a man who places great value on technical precision and conveys this well. He also showed how to create mnemonics for certain details. He involves everyone in his knowledge transfer, and you understand what he wants."
Anyone who wants to learn more should attend Thomas's training sessions. He'll certainly be happy to pass on what he's learned. It's been proven time and again that attending seminars, regardless of the topic or the master, offers immense knowledge benefits.
Here is another book recommendation from Fiore Tartaglia (perhaps as a Christmas present!)
