YOKO GERI

Yoko Geri Keage

The side-snapping foot technique can reach not only frontal targets, but also those that are located to the side.
The Yoko geri keage strikes targets from bottom to top, with the outer edge of the foot positioned horizontally. Preferred targets are the armpit and the lower area of the chin. However, it can also be used as a defensive technique (this is a possible interpretation in the kata) to redirect attacks upwards.

Yoko geri kekomi

The side-striking foot technique, like the Keage version of Yoko geri, achieves lateral and frontal targets.
The goals of the Yoko geri kekomi are found on all three levels. At the Gedan level, it is called Fumikomi.
